Castleisland Race Committee

Castleisland Horse and Pony Races now the oldest Race meeting in the country in their 159 th year originally scheduled for the June bank holiday weekend has been put back a week due to the Munster football Semi-final Being moved to the June bank holiday weekend.

The races will take place in the Lands of Maurice Brosnan in Powell’s road on Sunday June 10th at 1 pm .This year the committee are organising a sports day beginning at 12 noon in the race track this is a family fun day for all the family with races for the u6 s to un 16 sBoys and girls ,also included will be face painting and Bouncing castle The Races will feature a 10 race card with all the top jockeys taking part you will remember it is just a short few years ago that Paul Townend and Dingles own Jack Kennedy Began their careers in Castleisland they are now amongst the top jockeys in the world .

A total of 9086 euros was raised for local charities in 2017 through the various fundraisers bringing the total of 133875 euros raised over the past 13 years all this money went to local deserving Charities

This year the benefactors chosen will be as follows.

Curranes National School Kerry Star Olympics
Scoil Mhuire Gan Smal will be the benefactors of the Drive in Bingo which will be held in the Castleisland Mart grounds on Sunday 17th June. Glebe Lodge will be the Benefactors of the Humpherey Murphy Memorial 5 and 10 k fun run which will be starting in Limerick road at 7 pm on Friday 8 June

Donations will also go to to Castleisland Senior Citizens Christmas party and St Ita’s and St Joseph’s school.
